Wireless Man - Halloween 2007

Links:   [home]         Picture size (pictures per line):

Wireless Man is skillfully portrayed by Don Colton, professor of Information Systems at Brigham Young University Hawaii. Professor Colton is teaching, among other things, an introductory class in computer networking. The antennas are actual working 7 dBi 2 GHz antennas for WiFi (802.11 b/g) networking, and are properly connected to the router. They are mounted to the helmet by integrated magnets. The helmet is a mixing bowl. Is Wireless Man mixed up? The helmet lining is a deflated Winnie the Pooh kick ball. Wireless Man retains his connections to his childhood and youth. And that of his grand children. The liner is connected to the mixing bowl by duct tape, that mysterious force that holds the universe together. The cape is a space blanket, which is so appropriate because, well, Wireless Man is totally space aged. The cape is held in place by an ordinary clothes pin, which teaches us that even the mundane objects around Wireless Man's house are heavy with possibility. The lei is a fully functional Cat 5 stranded unshielded twisted pair local area network wiring. The router is a fully functional LinkSys WRT54GS hardware rev 1.0 running DD-WRT v24rc4 Linux. The Tee Shirt is from City Segway Tours in Washington DC. Segways are cool. Wireless Man is cool. The ensemble is rounded out by board shorts (popular in Hawaii where Wireless Man lives), crew socks, and Propet running shoes. Wireless Man is prepared to get there fast!

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a roll of aluminum foil! It's WIRELESS MAN!

Enjoy!
