Don and Isaac's Date at the Beach:
A "Ditch" to the Ocean
On the Pounders Beach in Laie, near "Bathtub,"
there is a stream that empties into the ocean.

For fun we decided to dig a channel from stream to ocean.
We started Friday Night on an outing with some friends.		 The sand was filling the mouth of the stream.
No water was escaping into the ocean.

Our initial efforts were with hands, feet, and sticks.
Our channel was too narrow. The sides kept caving in.

We were hungry for success.
On Saturday we decided to continue.
We went to the beach at about 9 AM.
We brought two shovels and a sidewalk edger.

We made the channel much wider.
In a short time we had water flowing
We had to keep clearing away the cave-ins.
We finished up around 10:30.
The channel is about 20 feet long.
In the middle it is about a foot down from the top of the sand.
